Jon Stewart to step down from 'The Daily Show' later this year
LOS ANGELES — Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show at the end of this year, Comedy Central announced Tuesday, ending a run that redefined not only political satire, but the way young people engage with politics and consume the news.
Comedy Central plans to continue its flagship series with a new host, people close to the situation tell Mashable. No matter who steps in, Stewart's voice will be sorely missed in 2016, another landmark presidential election year — his specialty, and the backdrop of his 2000 rise to television power.
